Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.
Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.
Performing Arts
Our school offers Dance as an extra-curricular club during lunchtime for students in years K-6. Students can opt to join by attending the club sessions. No audition or application is required.
Occasionally, for out-of-school events with limited spots and associated costs, auditions will be required. These events may also require additional rehearsals during school hours.
Each year, we offer the opportunity to participate in the Queanbeyan District Arts Festival (DAF). When DAF auditions take place, dance club will morph into rehearsals, these will only be open to students committed to performing in DAF. Once DAF is complete, dance club will resume as a lunchtime club for any K-6 students who wish to participate.
This year we will participate in Pulse Alive, a statewide performing arts festival, coordinated by the Department of Education Arts Unit whereby students will be given the opportunity to travel to Sydney to perform. Pulse Alive is a large-scale event, providing high-quality opportunities in the performing arts for students and teachers from NSW public schools in Greater Sydney and beyond. Pulse Alive provides performance opportunities for students of all abilities from Kindergarten to Year 12. Participation in the categories of massed dance, First Nations Dance Ensemble and massed choir are open to all schools without audition. For more information, please visit the website.
Additionally, we have the privilege of performing at community events, providing an excellent platform for our students to display their passion, skills, and creativity in dance.
